Quaid e Azam PCL wins again – T20 Charity Game

The game a side, it’s great to see the cricketing community come together to put on a game that most didn’t miss whether that was watching the game at the iconic cricket ground at Park Avenue prepared by Nasa Hussain and his team who did an excellent job on a hybrid wickets or watching the game on the live stream Play-Cricket sponsored by Whiterose Direct. The cash donation collected on the day from spectators was £110 in aid of Yorkshire Cancer. We will continue to collect donations at our key event during the rest of the season with the aim we raise £500 again.

Spectators who watched the game at the ground witnessed some of the excellence in cricket with some exceptional catching and fielding on the outfield. The interest in the game was demonstrated by the view on league social media platform and the website. The facebook page had over 2000 views, with another 1374 views on Youtube and 500 plus at the ground.

The toss was won by the Captain, Steven Bullen of the The Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier Cricket League who elected to bat first and the strategy seem to be to go hard as the team had a long line up of big hitters.

The strategy didn’t seem to go to plan as Bradford Premier League was restricted to 52 for 5 in the 9th over as Opener bowler, Umar Yaqoob of Northern Warriors CC (2 for 37) with support from both spinners, Vikas Dixit of Bhalot Strikers CC (4 for 11) and Mohammad Amir of AK Eagles CC (3 for 15) shared the 5 wickets between them.

Bradford Premier League fought back with some outstanding batting from skipper, Steven Bullen (45) and Ben Wright (39), between them they took the total to 106 before they lost Ben Wright in the 15th over to Mohammad Amir who had been brilliant with the ball.

Bradford Premier League was restricted to 151 for 9 as Vikas Dixit took all the final three wickets of the innings.

After the team talk Quaid e Azam PCL lost Mosum Hussain for a duck in the 2nd over but a fine innings from Danish Hussain of Bhalot Strikers CC (65 runs of 50 balls) with 6 fours and 4 sixes along with Shokat Ali of AK Eagles CC (32 runs of 30 balls) who played a restrained innings, put on a partnership of 80 runs to put their league in control. Both lost their wickets in the 14th and 15th respective over and the run rate started to creep up. Quaid e Azam PCL lost 4 wickets for just 9 runs, in came the skipper Yasir Ali of Bhalot Strikers CC and Hardik Kunrangale of Bradford Riders CC needing 18 runs of 11 balls. Hardik second last ball hit in cow corner was well placed between the two fielders to go for a 4, followed by the final ball in the same place for 6, now needing only 7 runs in the last over, the win was in sight. Captain Yasir Ali steered the first ball of Yasir Ali from the off side down to square leg for a four followed by 3 singles to secure the 2nd T20 win with just 2 balls to spare for the representative team of Quaid e Azam Premier Cricket League.
